Boy Scouts Troop 838 has 11 troop outings a year including one week of summer camp at the Woodruff Scout Reservation in the North Georgia Mountains. These troop outings range from backpacking the Appalachian Trail or in the Cohutta National Wilderness to white water rafting, canoeing, state park pioneer camping, and visiting the Alabama Space and Rocket Center the USS Yorktown in Charleston and Cumberland Caverns in Tennessee. The cost of most monthly outings average $15.00 per boy which includes food, transportation, and any admission fees. Our goal is to help boys become young men with a sense of duty to God, country and themselves with the ability to lead and appreciate the world they live in, and have FUN in the process. Registration: When a boy joins the troop we ask him to pay a fee based on the number of months remaining in the year. These part year fees are figured on a monthly basis: Jan. $30.00; Feb. $28.00 ....etc. Registration for new scouts includes payment to the National Boy Scouts of America, accident insurance, fees for badges, literature, program materials, and a copy of The Boy Scout Handbook.
